Preview | Swansea City v Northampton Town
Swansea City will look to advance to the second round of the Carabao Cup and build on the positives from their weekend showing when they host Northampton Town at the Swansea.com Stadium tonight (7.30pm).
The Swans played out a 1-1 draw against Birmingham City in their opening Championship fixture, with striker Jerry Yates marking his debut with a goal.
Head coach Michael Duff was pleased with the energy and fitness his side showed, as well as the spirit on display as they came from a goal down.
And he will be keen to see his side continue to progress during a transitional period early in his stewardship.
TEAM NEWS
Swans boss Duff is set to assess the fitness of his squad before electing whether to make changes for the visit of the League One Cobblers.
The likes of Liam Cullen and Azeem Abdulai featured off the bench against Birmingham, with the former getting the assist for Yates; equaliser, and will be hoping for a starting role.
It remains to be seen if Joe Allen, Josh Ginnelly or Mykola Kuharevich are fit enough to feature from the start.
PRE-MATCH VIEWS
Michael Duff: “We will count the bodies we have got and the medical team will feed back to us on whether there are any injuries to report, or any bumps and bruises,” he said.
“We will then get together as a staff and pick the team for Tuesday, but whatever team we do pick it will be one that we think is good enough to go and win the game.
"We want to win the game. It's not a case of putting the kids out, we want to get our first win and go through the rounds of the competition."
Jon Brady: "There was stuff to be pleased about and things to work on from Saturday. We were in full control in the first half and should have put the game to bed.
"We lost some control in the second half and that was partly because our conditioning is not where we want it at the moment, mainly because we have been easing players back in pre-season, but that will come as we get players fitter."
Peter Wright will be the man in charge for tonight's fixture. He will be assisted by Sam Ogles and Dean Treleaven. Farai Hallam will be the fourth official.

REMEMBER THE LAST TIME?
Three goals in seven minutes – including a brace from Andre Ayew – saw Swansea City fight back to see off Northampton and reach the second round of the Carabao Cup back in August 2019.
Steve Cooper’s side had looked in danger of being on the wrong end of an upset when Matt Warburton had given the League Two Cobblers the lead at the Liberty Stadium.
But Ayew emerged from the bench to nod home the leveller – his first Swansea goal since May 2016 – and George Byers put the Swans ahead for the first time with a curling strike from distance.
And Ayew wrapped the win up with another headed finish to seal passage through to the next stage.
PRIME NUMBERS
4 - Jerry Yates' goal against Birmingham means a Swansea player has marked their debut with a goal in the first league game of the season for four seasons in a row. Morgan Gibbs-White, Jamie Paterson and Harry Darling were the three previous players to do so.
52 - Swansea City and Northampton Town have met 52 times in competitive fixtures, with the Swans having won 24 of those contests.
