Swansea City Under-18s kick off their Professional Development League Cup campaign on Saturday morning as they host Cardiff City at Landore Training Ground (10.30am kick-off).

Entry to watch the game is free and supporters will be able to access the site from 9.30am.

The Swans exited the competition in the group stages last season, finishing second in Group E following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle, whom they will face again in their final group fixture in November.

The Bluebirds will also be looking to better last season's performance in the cup, after finishing fourth in Group F behind Coventry City, Shrewsbury Town and Forest Green Rovers.

In the league, the Swans won their opening game of the season against reigning PDL Cup champions Peterborough United, but the age-grade side have since registered defeats against Crewe Alexandra and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

Meanwhile, Cardiff are yet to claim three points in the league after losing their two opening games, before holding on to a 3-3 draw against Coventry last time out.

Under-18s' coach Ricky King: "It's exciting to get the cup under way, it's also a great way to play some clubs who we don't normally come up against in our calendar.

"We will treat it like any other game, but we know who the opponents are, and sometimes emotions can get it in the way because of that.

"The cup is always a good experience for young players, and we would like to do well in this competition this season."

Swansea City Under-18s suffered a home defeat against Cardiff City Under-18s in their last Professional Development League Cup clash at Landore.

Thanks to a Japhet Mpadi brace and a fine finish from Joel Colwill from the spot, the Bluebirds extended their lead at the top of Group A, to leave the Swans’ still seeking their first point in the competition.

The visitors extended their 100% winning record in the competition, following previous victories over Bristol City and Watford.
