Swans Women celebration vs Cardiff Met

Swansea City Women travel to The New Saints Women this afternoon in the Genero Adran Trophy semi-finals (2pm).

The Swans netted 18 goals across their two outings on the way to the last four, thanks a 13-0 win over Llandudno Ladies in the opening round and a 5-0 win over Cardiff Met in the quarter-finals.

The Swans last reached the semi-finals of the competition in the 2020-21 season, going on to win the tournament with a 4-1 win over Cardiff City Women in the final.

The New Saints come into the game looking to reach the final of the competition for the first time, having suffered semi-final defeat in back-to-back seasons to Cardiff Met and Cardiff City respectively.

The hosts are looking for a first win booking their semi-final spot in January, having suffered four defeats in their last five games.

Chris Church v Cardiff City Women

Swansea City Women’s interim head coach Chris Church: “I’m looking forward to the first of two semi-finals, it’s another big opportunity to hopefully win a trophy this season, and it's one we are keen to grasp.

“It’s very important for us, it’s a chance to get into a final and hopefully win a trophy and reward the hard work the players have put in so far.

“TNS have had a tough start to the year but they will want to put that to bed and take this opportunity for them as well, so we have to be prepared as no two games of football are ever the same.

“We need to keep our momentum going, as this is a very important part of the season for us in our goal to win silverware.”

Stacey John-Davis vs TNS

The two sides last met in January, with a five-star performance earning the Swans an emphatic 5-0 win over The New Saints Women at Llandarcy.

Katy Hosford gave the Swans the lead just six minutes in, calmly tucking home her 11th league goal of the season, before Stacey John-Davis doubled the advantage just six minutes later.

Sammy Wynne made it 3-0 just after the break as she headed home from a corner, before John-Davis scored her second of the game with a cool finish.

Substitute Chloe Chivers then put the icing on the cake for the Swans late on, firing a low effort in with five minutes to go to top off an excellent performance.
