Preview | Llandudno Ladies v Swansea City Women
Swansea City Women begin their Genero Adran Trophy campaign with a trip to face Llandudno Town Ladies this afternoon (2pm kick-off).
The Swans will be looking to continue their good form in cup competition, having beaten Cardiff Met and Cwmbran Celtic in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup to reach the quarter-final stage.
Llandudno currently sit second in the Genero Adran North, having only suffered defeat this season to league leaders Connah’s Quay and Wrexham in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.
PRE-MATCH VIEWS
Swansea City Women interim coach Chris Church: “It’s a new competition, a competition that we’ve won previously. It will be difficult, especially with the long trip, but we’ve done it all before.
“No team in tier two should be underestimated, Llandudno are no strangers to us, especially after our last meeting where they beat us.
“I watched Llandudno’s game against Wrexham, and I thought they were really unlucky, it shows just show dangerous they can be.
“So we will need to be focused. Every competition we enter we want to win and this one is no different.”
PREVIOUS MEETING
The two sides last met a year ago in the same round of this competition, with Llandudno Ladies causing an upset and knocking out the Swans with a 2-1 win.
After a goalless first half, Llandudno took the lead through India Hassall’s lob.
The Swans got themselves level just two minutes later, Nieve Jenkins tucking home a great ball from Jess Williams.
But Llandudno would strike the decisive blow when Kelsey Davies’ fantastic effort from distance restored the visitors’ lead to earn them progression to the next round.
