Preview | Ipswich Town U18s vs Swansea City U18s
Swansea City Under-18s face Ipswich Town in the Professional Development League at St George’s Park on Tuesday (1pm).
The young Swans play their second game at the training base of the England national team this season, having played the Blues in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Swansea go into the game off the back of their first defeat in 2022, suffering a 4-2 loss to comfortable league leaders Charlton Athletic.
Despite that setback, the Swans have had a great start to 2022, having won their previous two games before facing the Addicks.
Iwan Morgan goes into the game in fine form, having netted five goals in five games, including a brace against Charlton.
Ipswich go into the fixture seeking their first win of 2022, losing twice and drawing twice in their four games since the turn of the year.
In their last outing the Tractor Boys were held to a 2-2 draw away at bottom of the table Queens Park Rangers.
Despite the difficult run of form this year, Ipswich still sit second in the Professional Development League.
Swansea City Under-18s coach Darren Davies: “We just played Charlton who are top of the league by some distance, it’s been all about that rest and recovery because we now go to play the team who are second in the league on Tuesday.
“It’s going to be a challenging week for us with another game away to Millwall next Saturday as well, another team who has been in and around the top three so it’s a challenge, but one that we embrace.”
Previous meeting
The two sides last met at St George’s Park back in December, with Ipswich coming away with a commanding 4-0 win.
Ipswich took the lead just four minutes in, and the Swans were then punished by a late first-half flurry that saw Ipswich go into the break 3-0 up.
The Swans kept Ipswich quiet for most of the second half, but they would make it four as they claimed all three points.
