Swans Women v TNS

Swansea City Women play their final phase one game of the Genero Adran Premier as they travel to league leaders Cardiff City Women this afternoon (5.10pm).

The Swans will be looking to reduce the gap between themselves and the reigning champions, currently sitting eight points back with two games in hand.

Chris Church’s side will be looking to bounce back after a frustrating 1-1 draw with Aberystwyth Town last time out, failing to win for the first time in 2024.

A place in the championship half of the Genero Adran Premier is already secure for both sides, but the fixture could be crucial heading into the business end of the season.

The Bluebirds come into the fixture in fine form, having won 16 consecutive games and not suffered a domestic defeat since their Genero Adran Trophy final loss to Cardiff Met Women last March.

PRE-MATCH VIEWS

Chris Church vs Wrexham

Swansea City Women’s Interim head coach Chris Church: “I’ve always enjoyed being part of the south Wales derby so I can’t wait for it once again.

“It’s always one of the most important games of the season, but this year it is so important for the context of our season and what we are trying to achieve.

“Obviously the pressure is on, but we will use this pressure and aim to get to where we want to be at the end of the season.

“They are on a good run and riding high, but it’s up to us to make sure that we put everything we can into this.

“It’s always a difficult game and this will be no exception, it’s become tighter and tighter each year and small moments are deciding these games now, but hopefully the moments will come out in our favour.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

Ellie Lake v Cardiff City Women

The two sides last met back in November, with the Bluebirds claiming a narrow 1-0 win at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.

After a strong first half from the Swans, which saw them create a number of openings, the visitors grew into the game and capitalised through Molly Kehoe’s strike during the closing stages.

The defeat was the Swans first in five games across all competitions and ended what had been a perfect start to the season at home.
