Preview | Briton Ferry Llansawel v Swansea City U21s
Swansea City Under-21s are in Nathaniel MG Cup quarter-final action this evening as they take on JD Cymru South outfit Briton Ferry Llansawel at the Old Road (7.45pm).
Tickets for this fixture are pay-on-the-day only, and ticketing details can be found HERE.
The Swans eased through the opening round of this competition with a 4-0 victory over Carmarthen Town, before winning their second-round fixture 3-1 against JD Cymru South outfit Caerau Ely.
The age-grade side sealed their place in the quarter-finals by beating Cardiff City Under-21s on penalties at the Swansea.com Stadium in September.
Briton Ferry Llansawel - who currently sit on top of the JD Cymru South - secured a 1-0 win over AFC Ammanford in the third-round to progress to the last eight.
In the earlier rounds, the Ferry beat Abergavenny Town and Llanwit Major 2-0 and 3-1 respectively.
The Swans had been drawn at home, but the decision to move the tie to the opposition’s home ground has been taken to aid the players’ development by playing in a challenging away environment.
And the tie is something of a family affair for Swansea City Under-21s' coach Anthony Wright, as his two sons - Morgan and Lloyd - play for Ferry's first team.
Pre-match views
Coach Anthony Wright: "For me personally, with my affiliation to the club and my boys playing there, it will be a nice occasion, and hopefully one my family will enjoy!
"But we are looking forward to it, it's going to be a different test. We played them in pre-season, but now there's a competitive edge to the fixture, it will be different.
"Again, as a group, we've set targets and we will set out to reach them. I know the boys are up for it, as it's a whole new experience and they would love to go as far as they can in the competition.
"The boys have done incredibly well to get to this stage, against some senior opposition as well, they can't wait to get out there."
