Preview | Aberystwyth Town Ladies v Swansea City Ladies
Swansea City Ladies travel to west Wales to take on Aberystwyth Town tonight in the Genero Adran Premier (7.30pm).
The Swans stretched their advantage at the top of the Adran Premier with a slim victory over Cardiff City Women on Sunday, and another win tonight will see that lead further extend to six points.
Meanwhile, Aber have transformed into top-four contenders after finishing at the bottom of the table last season, but having stayed in the top-flight due to a restructure of women’s football in Wales.
Aberystwyth are without a win in three matches, whereas Swansea have a 100 percent record this campaign.
Pre-match views
Chris Church: “Aberystwyth will be difficult opposition and Gavin Allen has done a fantastic job there, you can see that with their league position at the moment.
“Gavin has turned the team around into a hardworking unit and that fully resembles him as a manager.
“They aren’t just going to just lie down and be rolled over, so our players will have to be ready for a fight.
“We went there last season and they made it difficult.”
Remember the last time?
Aberystwyth took Swansea to extra-time in the semi-final of the League Cup at Park Avenue back in May, but the Swans were 2-0 victors in the end.
The first half was rather open with both sides threatening, but it was the Seasiders who came closest as Tania Wylde and Hannah Pusey both saw their efforts hit the woodwork.
The second half lacked any clear-cut opportunities which saw the game go the distance into extra time.
Stacey John-Davis popped up twice in the additional 30 minutes to book the Swans’ place in the final, where they went on to defeat Cardiff City.
