Potter looks for more
Graham Potter has told Swansea City to focus on performances, not league position, in the wake of victory at Bolton Wanderers.
The Swans are up to eighth in the Championship after Barrie McKay’s maiden goal for the club sealed a first away win in six attempts.
With 17 games of the season played, the Swans are five points adrift of the automatic promotion places and only two points away from the top six.
But Potter insists that for the moment, he is not interested in his team’s league placing.
“I pay no attention to the table at this stage of the season,” he said.
“I suppose it gives you a bit of an indication about where you are, but I don’t look at it.
“The big thing for me is making sure we concentrate on trying to improve.
“Things can change very quickly in the Championship, as we have seen already this season.
“What is important is that we keep focusing on the next game.
“If you look at the table after a good result it can give you a false sense of security, and very quickly you can drop back down.”
The Swans do not play for a fortnight because of the final international break of 2018.
They return to action when Championship leaders Norwich City visit the Liberty Stadium on November 24.
