Pau signs for Swans

9th October

Pau Morer says he can't wait to start his Swansea City career after he signed his first professional deal with the club.

The Spanish midfielder has been training with the Under-21s squad since July but was unable to sign professionally until his 18th birthday.

And Morer, who previously played for Catalan youth side CF Damm - a former club of ex-Swan Andrea Orlandi - said he couldn't wait to start playing for Kristian O'Leary's young Swans.

"I am very happy," said the 18-year-old. "I arrived here in July but, until now, I couldn't sign.

"I have been training with the Under-21s, but I am looking forward to playing in the games and helping the team.

"The next game is against Crystal Palace on October 21, so I am really excited for that."

Having already trained with the Swans for several months, Morer has had the opportunity to see how the first-team players operate on a daily basis.

With that experience in mind, he says compatriot Alejandro Pozuelo is a player he looks up to.

"I really like Pozuelo," he explained. "I think we play in a similar way.

"He makes everything look so easy, and he always chooses the right option. When he has to dribble, he dribbles; when he has to pass, he passes.

"I am a player who likes to keep the ball and play for my teammates, and I like to defend as well as attack."

Morer, who has also spent time with the Barcelona and Espanyol youth ranks, has now set his focus on working hard for the Under-21 team, hoping that the work will pay off in the future.

He added: "For now, I just want to help my Under-21 teammates.

"Looking forward, with a lot of hard work, I hope I can push for the first-team."
