As the Swans get set to face Notts County at the Liberty Stadium in an Emirates FA Cup fourth-round replay, we look back at some previous encounters between the clubs.

Swans 4 Notts County 0

League Two – Saturday, December 18, 2004

Lee Trundle scored a hat-trick as the Swans put four past Notts County at Vetch Field.

Trundle netted his first with an unstoppable free-kick to give Kenny Jackett’s side a lead three minutes before the break.

County keeper Saul Deeney pulled off two great saves to deny Trundle twice after the break, but the Scouse star found the net once again in the 69th minute after breaking clear.

Paul Connor extended the Swans’ lead to 3-0 in the 76th minute with a neat header following a Marc Goodfellow corner, before Trundle grabbed his third from the penalty spot in the final minute.

The Swans finished in third position in League Two on 80 points at the end of the 2004-05 season, earning them promotion to League One.

Division Three – Saturday, January 7, 1989

The Swans ran out 2-0 victors at Vetch Field following goals from Robbie James and Bryan Wade.

James opened the scoring shortly after the half-hour mark with a spectacular 25-yard drive which was a contender for goal of the month.

Lee Bracey pulled off some great saves to deny County’s Lund and McParland to maintain the Swans’ advantage.

Wade sealed the win in the 64th minute, rounding the keeper to slot home the hosts’ second.

The Swans finished in 12th position in the Third Division at the end of the 1988-89 season on 61 points.

Swans 3 Notts County 2

Division One – Saturday, September 12, 1981

John Toshack’s Swansea City sealed their third win in four games with a 3-2 triumph over the Magpies at the Vetch in 1981.

Alan Curtis broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute before Leighton James doubled the Swans’ advantage in the 37th minute.

It looked like the game had been put beyond doubt in the 52nd minute when Bob Latchford slotted home the Swans’ third.

However, County fought back and converted from the spot in the 65th minute after they were awarded a penalty for an Irwin handball.

County’s McCulloch reduced the deficit once more five minutes from time.

The Swans struggled to hold on in the final minutes of the match after a Dai Davies mistake saw County to hit the woodwork twice.

The Swans finished in sixth position in the First Division at the end of the 1981-82 season on 69 points.
