Swansea moved up to second place in League Two thanks to Marc Goodfellow's goal away at the Kassam Stadium.
The home side fell behind in the 61st minute, moments after being reduced to ten men following a second booking of the night for Jon Ashton.
Swansea striker Kevin Nugent flicked on inside the penalty area and Goodfellow headed home from six yards.
Oxford substitute Jamie Brooks had two late longe-range efforts, but Swansea goalkeeper Willie Gueret saved well.

Swansea's 100% league record was ended spectacularly at the Kassam Stadium, as Oxford took over from their visitors at the top of the table.
In a game of cut and thrust, the Swans held on until five minutes from time, when three late goals sunk the visitors.
Andy Crosby broke the deadlock from the penalty spot on 85 minutes before former Swansea striker Julian Alsop doubled Oxford's lead a minute later.
Substitute Mark Rawle completed the rout in the closing moments as Oxford went top of the table.

Two second-half goals helped Oxford to victory over Swansea in a battle between two already relegated clubs.
With both teams suffering relegation to Division Three, the hosts went ahead after ten minutes as Jamie Brookes saw a shot come back off a post and Manny Omoyimni forced in the rebound.
Jason Price levelled for Swansea but Oxford made sure of the points as Brookes scored after 61 minutes before Matt Murphy grabbed a third with a header from a Joey Beauchamp corner.
