Ollie Jefferies | The boys displayed the togetherness they have
Ollie Jefferies believes the togetherness Swansea City Under-18s showed against AFC Bournemouth was key to their 1-0 victory in their Professional Development League Cup fixture.
The 10-man Swans made it back-to-back wins in the cup after Thomas Woodward's first-half strike proved the difference at the Canford Park Arena.
Sixteen-year-old Woodward netted the winner late in the first period following a fine team move, and the Swans prevailed as they held on to secure a clean sheet at the other end despite a late red card for Jack Fanning.
And Jefferies hopes the young squad will be able to continue to show the spirit and team work that has characterised their recent showings.
"We've put a lot of work in this week around being more compact and being more defensively structured. I thought the players took that into the game," said Jefferies.
"I thought our structure on the ball was really good, and in turn allowed us to create some really nice moments in transition.
"It was also just great to see the work they have put in over the week pay off with that win and clean sheet.
"One thing that us as staff have been really pleased with is how they have stuck together. They're always working for each other and long may that continue.
"If you want to be successful, you can't just rely on the 11 players on the pitch, it was also going to be the boys that come on and help us, and they did.
"The subs worked so hard when they came on, you had players putting their bodies on the line, everyone put in a real shift."
