Ollie Cooper | We're starting to show the progress we are making

Ollie Cooper believes Swansea City are heading in the right direction under head coach Luke Williams, and that their recent run of form underlines the progress they are making.

The Swans 4-0 away victory over relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town last time out was their third consecutive win with a clean sheet – the first time they’ve achieved such a feat since 2012.

And midfielder Cooper feels that is an indicator of the hard work that has gone in over recent months under head coach Williams and his staff, who arrived in SA1 in January.

Now, with just two games left of the current campaign – Saturday’s away trip to Norwich and a home match against Millwall on May 4 – Cooper says the most important thing is to keep building momentum and confidence ahead of next season’s Championship campaign.

“I think the mood in the camp is definitely a positive one,” said the Wales international.

“I think the performances themselves have been really good; we’ve created a lot of and limited the opposition to very little chances, and I think it’s a testament to all the work we’re putting in on the training ground.

“Even now, it’s about trying to end the season as well as we can and get a bit of momentum going ahead of next season.

“So it’s been really good for the last three games and hopefully we can do the same on Saturday.

“It’s been a challenging season for everyone involved. Obviously a change in manager and style of play at the start of the season, and to try to adapt and change to that was a challenge in itself, and then results weren’t going too well.

“But, with the appointment of Luke, I think you can really see what we’re trying to do now, especially in the last few games, so I feel like we’re slowly getting there. Hopefully the fans can see what we’re starting to produce on the pitch.

"Like anything, it takes time. It’s never really the case that a manager comes in and you hit the ground running straight away, especially with the fixtures we had when he first came in, but in the past few games you’re starting to see what we’re trying to do as a team.

“On the ball and off the ball, there has been a big improvement. There’s still a lot of work to be done and a lot to improve on, but hopefully now people are seeing it and we can continue it.”
