Ollie Cooper looking to press on after latest goal
Ollie Cooper took his tally to five goals for the season at Sunderland, and the Swansea City midfielder insists he is far from done as he eyes a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Cooper sealed the Swans win on Wearside with an outstanding late finish, driving onto a loose ball before firing an unstoppable rising drive into the roof of the net to make it 3-1.
It capped another impressive showing from the academy product, who is enjoying a breakthrough campaign at first-team level for the Swans.
But there is little time to dwell with Bristol City in SA1 on Tuesday night for an FA Cup third-round replay.
“The FA Cup is a massive competition, I think everyone recalls famous moments they remember from it over the years, and getting through is the focus now,” said the 23-year-old.
“Now it gives us a chance to kick on, to keep building and to try and put a run together.
“We are at home and we want to keep performing well and get through to the next round.
“It was another good performance at the weekend, and it was great to get another goal, we just need to keep it going.
“I hope there are a few more goals to come, that’s certainly the aim, but the most important thing is the win for the team.
“It’s never easy playing 10 men, the crowd were up after the red card, and you see it so often that teams are disciplined and sit in and make life difficult.
“It’s probably the biggest crowd I have played in front of, but it felt like we handled it well.”
