Numbers game: Brighton v Swans

24th February
First team

It is time to check out the numbers as we look ahead to Swansea City’s Premier League clash with Brighton this afternoon (3pm).

The Swans will look to extend their 10-game unbeaten run against a Seagulls side who beat them on their own patch back in November.

BRIGHTON

3 – Jose Izquierdo has scored in his last two Premier League appearances – he could become the third Colombian to score in three consecutively after Hamilton Ricard and Juan Pablo Angel.

1 – Brighton have failed to score in four of their last five meetings with Swansea in all competitions, with their one goal in that sequence coming from Glenn Murray in a 1-0 win at Liberty Stadium earlier this season.

4 – Brighton are one of seven teams Swansea have lost to all in all four tiers of English league football, along with Burnley, Cardiff City, Fulham, Hull City, Luton Town and Watford.

6 – Chris Hughton has avoided defeat in six of his seven previous managerial clashes with Swansea City (W3 D3 L1), with each win coming with a different team (Newcastle, Norwich and Brighton).

8 – Only four Englishmen have scored more often in the Premier League this season than eight-goal Murray – Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney. Murray has found the net with three of his last four shots on target in the Premier League.

SWANS

63 – The Swans have had 63 shots on target in the Premier League this season in 27 matches. Yet in just five FA Cup matches, they have managed another 30 – 54 per cent of their league total for the season so far.

14 – The Swans have won 14 points since Carlos Carvalhal took charge (W4 D2 L1), one more than they recorded in their first 20 games before his arrival (W3 D4 L13).

3 – The Swans have not drawn three consecutive away league matches since October 2009. Their last two away trips have ended in 1-1 draws at Leicester and Newcastle.

100 – Lukasz Fabianski has made 100 Premier League saves so far this season, more than any other top-flight keeper.

8 – The Swans have managed eight clean sheets in the Premier League so far this season, the same number as Brighton. Although both teams are in the bottom half of the table, 11 top-flight clubs have had fewer shutouts than them.

195 – Wayne Routledge has now made 195 Premier League appearances for the Swans, more than any other player. Ashley Williams (181) is next in the list.

Swans: Kyle Naughton – 46
