Nieve Jenkins | Everyone stepped up, it was a team performance
Swansea City Women’s midfielder Nieve Jenkins praised the spirit of the side as they returned to winning ways beating Pontypridd United Women 3-1 in the Genero Adran Premier.
A quickfire double from Katy Hosford and Robyn Pinder gave the Swans a two goal lead at the break, before a second-half screamer by Nadia Lawrence halved the Swans' lead.
But a late goal from Jenkins sealed three points for the Swans to provide the perfect response after a difficult afternoon last time out.
The midfielder was quick to praise the efforts of every player who featured in the match.
“Everyone stepped up and was a team player,” she said.
“It’s really good for us to get back to winning ways, especially after a long week.
“The team came together, and we played really good football. We started to play like us again.
“I think the result has really given us confidence, we needed fresh legs on towards the end and the girls that came on really put in a shift, pressed hard and helped us get that late goal.
“The spirit in the girls is amazing, everyone has come together, the players were pressing from the front.
“It wasn’t the best performance from us against Cardiff Met last time and there is a lot more from us to come.
“We go into training now and train hard this week back ready for Sunday.”
