Nia Jones | Aberystwyth win positive ahead of busy schedule
Swansea City Women’s defender Nia Jones feels Sunday’s win over Aberystwyth Town Women stands them in good stead ahead of a busy week for the side.
Jones netted her first goal for the Swans to open the scoring, before Jess Williams made it 2-0 10 minutes later with a headed goal.
Rebecca Mathias pulled one back for the visitors as her cross snuck underneath the crossbar, but Aimee Deacon’s second-half strike would seal three points.
The Swans now head into a run of two games in four days, travelling to Briton Ferry Llansawel in the Genero Adran Premier on Thursday before a cup clash with Cascade on Sunday.
Jones was pleased to get back to winning ways following a draw with Barry the previous weekend, and feels it was crucial heading into a busy schedule.
“We felt like last week was an opportunity missed to get three points, so it was good to back to winning ways,” said Jones.
"I think overall we dominated the game and deserved the win.
“We’ve got a style of play and that was evident throughout, particularly in the second half, I think we put some really good passages of play together, the third goal we played from back to front and it was really well finished off.
“It’s definitely positive heading into a busy period, we’ve now got a midweek fixture and then one at the weekend again, and we are looking forward to them.
“I’ve never personally played against Briton Ferry before, but the players know them quite well.
“They’ve had a really strong start so it will be another tough one, I’ve yet to play against a team in the Adran Premier this season that have been easy to play against.
“We know that Briton Ferry will be right up for it and looking to cause an upset, we’ve got a way of playing if they come at us and a way of playing if they are a bit more defensive, so we are excited for it.”
