New signing Dylan Morgan delighted to open Swansea City account
New signing Dylan Morgan was delighted to make an immediate impression as he netted for Swansea City Under-23s in their opening Premier League Cup clash at Exeter.
The 18-year-old recently penned a one-year deal with the Swans – which includes the option for an extension – after a successful trial, having previously been on the books at Southampton and Forest Green Rovers.
He wasted no time showing what he can do, creating and finishing a fine individual effort to open the scoring at St James Park, before an equaliser from Callum Rowe ensured the spoils were shared.
While Morgan would have preferred to have ended the night with the win and three points from the group stage fixture, he was pleased to have got on the scoresheet.
“I love getting the ball in those areas and just cutting in and finding the far corner so for me it was just natural,” he said.
“I love watching players who do that, I just knew where the goal was and took the chance and it was nice to see it go in the far corner.
“I think the boys have done well, obviously it’s our first game in about four weeks so for the lads it was about getting the fitness in, working on the things we’ve done in training, trying to get the patterns down well and trying to stick the team together.
“We played an experienced side to it was just about learning off them and picking up things as the game goes on.
“Games like that are a great opportunity to learn things and for the boys it was nice to see everyone work hard and dig in for each other.
“We’re a new group of lads so I was happy for the team, we did well, we push on now and keep going.”
