New Matt Grimes deal a real positive for Swansea City, says head coach Duff
Head coach Michael Duff believes Matt Grimes' decision to extend his stay with the club is great news for everyone connected with Swansea City.
The 28-year-old club captain has put pen to paper on a contract to tie him to the club until the end of June 2027.
Grimes has been with the Swans since 2015 and is among the longest-serving players in the first-team squad.
He has over 250 Swansea appearances, and is rapidly closing in on 200 games as captain.
And Duff is pleased to have seen such an integral figure commit his long-term future to the club.
"As captain of this football club he epitomises everything we want to do," he said.
"He has been here a long time, he has got a really strong affiliation to the football club, and this gives him security.
"It's good news for the club, you are protecting a very good player and it is good news for everyone.
"He loves the club. He loves the area. His family are all here, so it's a good news story all-round."
