Nathanael Ogbeta grateful to get back on the pitch after long lay-off
Nathanael Ogbeta is eager to push on after returning to action in Swansea City Under-21s’ 4-1 win over Colchester United.
Ogbeta joined the Swans on the final day of the transfer window in January 2022 from Shrewsbury, and he moved on loan to Peterborough United in January this year.
The 22-year-old appeared 20 times for Posh but his spell at the club was ended prematurely by a quad injury at the end of April.
The England youth international, who spent 10 years on the books at Manchester City, has faced a long road back to fitness.
But he played out the final half-hour of the development side’s Professional Development League victory on Friday; his first match action in seven months.
Now Ogbeta is hoping he can put his injury frustrations behind him and get back in the thick of the action for Michael Duff’s senior side.
"It’s great to get back out there, it’s been a long process. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for 30 minutes,” said Ogbeta.
“It was an interesting game, but it was just good to get those minutes under my belt.
“Rehab has been filled with ups and downs obviously. The new gaffer came in so it felt like a fresh start.
“But I had to miss the start of pre-season and some games, and now I feel like I can push on.
”I’ve been working hard in the physio room and the gym. I’m feeling good and I’ve got no issues with my quad now.
“The plan is to push for the first team, you’ve just got to be patient for the opportunity but I am feeling good.”
