Used to life out on the wing, speedster Luciano Narsingh is quickly getting up to speed on a potential new role at Swansea City.

The Dutch international has found game-time difficult to come by this season so far, with Narsingh limited to three appearances off the bench this season.

Boss Paul Clement’s decision to play with wing-backs and, in other games, a midfield diamond has meant Narsingh has had to remain patient.

To boost his hopes of chances of a place in the starting XI, Narsingh featured for the club’s under-23s on Monday night in a 5-2 victory over Derby.

He played the full 90 minutes at the Liberty, with the winger operating at the top of a midfield diamond – a joint decision made by himself and Clement – in a performance which also saw him among the goals.

And Narsingh, who turned 27 on Wednesday, is enjoying adapting to a new position.

“It was good for me to play 90 minutes,” he said. “It was a good run out which helped my match fitness and match sharpness.

“We played in a diamond, which was good for me as I had to learn to play in the middle. So it was the perfect game for me to adapt to playing in the middle.

“I have to improve in this system. If I can play more comfortably in that system, as well as on the wing, then I can possibly have more minutes in the first team.

“The coaches wanted to see me get into space with my pace – that played a big part in my goal.

“I spoke to Paul and we both agreed that I needed to play in this system and this game was the opportunity to do that.
