Myles Peart-Harris is set for a spell on the sidelines and may miss the rest of the season after suffering a back injury.

The midfielder suffered the injury in the draw with Preston, and missed the weekend victory over Middlesbrough.

Now, having undergone scans, Peart-Harris has returned to parent Brentford for further treatment.

And caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan confirmed Peart-Harris – who has contributed three goals and five assists this term – will be out for at least a number of weeks.

“It was a big blow for Myles, he is a lovely lad, he had a really good game against Blackburn and wanted to kick on. So it was really sad to see him go off like that, and to see him so upset.

“It could be the end of his season potentially, he could maybe come back for the final few games.

“But he will go back to Brentford to be assessed and we will see the extent of it, and we wish him all the best.

“He has produced good outcomes in terms of goals and assists, and he has showed he can perform at this level so I think both clubs have benefited from his time here.”

Sheehan is also waiting on the fitness of centre-back Harry Darling, who suffered a hip injury against Boro.

“With Harry, there’s something in his hip that we’ve sent him to get looked at and we will assess him over the coming days,” he added.

“I am not sure if he will be fit for this game, but let’s wait and see.

“We have to be adaptable, Hannes came on and did well, and that’s been the attitude. It’s not about what we don’t have, it’s about what we do have.

“Whatever happens we’ll pick a team that we think is suitable for Watford.”
