Monk reflects on perfect tour
14th July
Garry Monk insisted the Swans' tour of Holland couldn't have gone any better as they ended the four-game trip with a 100 per cent record.
A 1-0 win over top-flight side ADO Den Haag capped off a hugely positive tour for the Swans, with Michael Laudrup's side already having beaten FC Gravenzande, Excelsior Maassluis and Haaglandia before their final fixture at the Kyocera Stadion on Saturday afternoon.
Monk, who featured for the first half of the tour-ending victory, said: "It couldn't have gone much better for us.
"It was a hot day on a sticky pitch against a good team, but we did very well and it was a good workout for the boys.
"It's another game where the new boys can gel in and also for the players who have been here a while to get used to them too.
"Everyone has enjoyed it. It's been very good for bonding, so it's been a very productive ten days.
"It builds confidence. The first three games may not have been against the strongest of opposition, but it was good preparation ahead of the final game against Den Haag.
"The win over Den Haag means we finished the tour off with four wins from four games, so we couldn't have asked for more than that."
