Mike van der Hoorn suffers knee injury recurrence
Steve Cooper confirmed Mike van der Hoorn suffered a recurrence of his recent knee problem in the victory over Charlton.
The Dutchman returned to the Swans starting line-up against the Addicks, featuring for the first time since picking up the problem in the warm-up at Brentford.
But his evening ended early as he was forced off early in the second half, with Ben Wilmot taking his place to help see out a 1-0 win.
Head coach Cooper does not believe the problem is a serious one, although it means the former Ajax man is likely to miss this weekend’s FA Cup tie at QPR.
“It’s the same flare-up of the knee that kept him out from Brentford, so it is frustrating for him,” said Cooper.
“We did not see it coming, we gave it time to settle down, he trained in the days leading up to the game. He felt good.
“Mike knows his body, he is an experienced player and he felt fine.
“But he felt it a bit and needed some treatment at half-time and, fair play to him, he has given his best but not put the team at risk by staying on as an injured player.
“We scanned the knee after Brentford and there is nothing longer term than a flare-up and we hope it settles right down and does not go again.”
“Fair play to Ben Wilmot, it was a difficult situation to come in and that young centre-half pairing saw out that three points and the clean sheet.
“It was brilliant resilience to keep going as they did after this busy period.”
