Michu: We're stronger this year

9th September

Michu believes the Swans are well prepared to cope with the heavy demands of participating in four competitions this season.

The Swans face a hectic schedule as they look to fire on all cylinders in the Europa League, as well as the Barclays Premier League, the FA Cup and in their defence of the Capital One Cup.

But the Spaniard thinks that the side are much stronger this season, after a successful transfer window.

The recruitment drive at the Liberty has been in full flow this summer, with Michael Laudrup adding eight first-team signings including the likes of Michu's compatriots Jose Canas, Alejandro Pozuelo, Jordi Amat and, most recently, Alvaro Vazquez while Wilfried Bony became the clubs' record signing.

England international Jonjo Shelvey made the switch from Liverpool and Dutch midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has returned on loan for a second season from Villarreal as the Great Dane bolstered his options.

"I think our signings this summer were very good," said Michu. "We are stronger this year.

"Everybody is speaking Spanish in changing rooms now! Michael knows these players, but I'm very happy, not only with the Spanish signings, but with all the signings this summer.

"When you play with high quality players, it's easy to play. They help you a lot."

Swansea are approaching a busy week which will see them play three games in the space of seven days, going up against the likes of Liverpool, Valencia and Crystal Palace.

Despite the hectic schedule, Michu isn't concerned about the fixture congestion.

He added: "We are going to enjoy it. For me, to play a game is the best part in football.

"Even if we had 100 games this year, it's better for the team."
