Michael Obafemi | I love the feeling of scoring goals, I'm hungry for more
Michael Obafemi is hungry for more goals after netting his first home effort for Swansea City in the weekend win over Blackburn.
The 21-year-old – who joined the Swans from Southampton last summer – guided home his header from Jamie Paterson’s cross as Russell Martin’s side picked up a valuable win over high-flying Rovers.
Obafemi has had to be patient as he has settled in to new surroundings and adapted to a new style of play, but he has seen regular game time in recent weeks and that has just whetted his appetite for more.
“It felt amazing to get that first goal in front of the home fans, they have been so welcoming to me and I am so glad I could repay them,” he said.
“It just makes me even hungrier to score more goals, it felt just amazing and I need to get that feeling back on a regular basis now and show what I can do.”
The Swans had to dig deep to pick up a second win in their last five games after seeing Ryan Manning sent off early in the second half.
But they defended magnificently to keep a clean sheet, and Obafemi wants the result and performance to be the springboard for a good run ahead of Tuesday’s trip to face Stoke.
“I think 100 per cent that this win is a bit of a statement for us, they have been doing really well and are high up in the table,” he added.
“We played a long time with 10 men, but we dug deep and got the win and we can take a lot from that.
“You can see how much it meant to us and to the fans by the celebrations at the final whistle, we need it to be onwards and upwards from here.
“We will go into Tuesday looking to get a good result and start a good run.”
