Michael Duff | We’re expecting a tough game
Swansea City head coach Michael Duff is anticipating a tough test when his side travel to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion this afternoon (3pm).
It is the Swans' first competitive away match under the new boss, who started the season with a home draw against Birmingham City before following it up with a 3-0 win against Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup.
The Baggies – who became one of the division’s form teams last season after manager Carlos Corberan took over – lost to Blackburn Rovers on the opening day before suffering defeat to Stoke City in the Carabao Cup.
But today’s match marks their first home fixture of 2023-24 and the Baggies boast a remarkable home record having lost just once since October 2022.
“It’ll be a good game but a tough game,” said Duff.
“They were unlucky against Blackburn. They conceded a goal out of nowhere, and then a second goal straight away, and when you go 2-0 down away from home in the Championship that’s tough.
“If you look at the team they have, they’ve got a lot of Championship experience. They’ve got a good core of players to pick from.
“I see them as one of about 14 clubs who could get promoted. I think it’s very hard to predict who is going to be in the shake up at the moment.
“We’re expecting another really tough game, because this year it’s a really competitive league.”
