Michael Duff | We will need to play with tempo
Head coach Michael Duff believes tempo will be key for Swansea City when they host Huddersfield Town at the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon (3pm).
The Swans host the Terriers looking to round off a three-game week with three points, having drawn with Hull and suffered defeat at Leeds on the back of positive first-half showings in both fixtures.
Duff feels there have been good signs of progression in Swansea’s performances, but knows there is plenty of improvement still to come.
And, if they are to overcome a Terriers’ side buoyed by a midweek win at Sunderland, the Swans boss believes being accurate and quick in possession will be crucial.
“You are not due anything in football, you cannot take anything for granted, especially in the Championship as it’s the most competitive league,” he said.
“People might look at us playing Huddersfield and say we should win, but they beat Sunderland and drew with Southampton. That's the nature of the Championship.
“They will look to frustrate us, so we have to play with a good tempo and make sure they cannot kill the game and hurt us in transition.
“It’s a different challenge for us, it’s about us having the balance of getting the ball but having that penetration with it.
“We can’t play slowly, we will need to move the ball quickly, find space early and that’s the beauty of the Championship because you always face new challenges.”
