Michael Duff | We need to be better than that
Swansea City head coach Michael Duff pulled no punches in his assessment of his side’s 2-1 defeat to Bristol City, and says they simply have to improve.
The Swans had taken the lead against the Robins at the Swansea.com Stadium, with Liam Cullen finishing from a Charlie Patino through ball.
However, the visitors turned the game around with goals from Mark Sykes and Sam Bell after the break.
Ben Cabango hit the post for the Swans as they sought an equaliser, while strong claims for a penalty for handball were also waved away.
But Duff admitted the overall display had simply not been good enough.
“I thought it was a poor performance, and I thought it was weak,” said the Swans boss.
“We started the game fairly well, we went a goal up and then we lost every header, we lost every duel, we lost every tackle.
“They ran harder than us, we moved the ball too slowly. We need to do more, we need to play more on the front foot and show more energy because ultimately if we keep giving two goals away every week it’s going to be a long season.
“Ultimately we have hit the inside of the post and should have had a clear penalty, but that does not mask anything. We need to be better than that.
“We just need to be more aggressive with and without the ball.”
