Head coach Michael Duff believes new signings Carl Rushworth and Mykola Kuharevich can make a positive impact at Swansea City, and is encouraged to see hungry young players coming through the arrivals door in SA1.

Goalkeeper Rushworth has joined on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion on the back of an excellent spell with Lincoln City last season, and being part of the England Under-21 squad that won the European Championship this summer.

Striker Kuharevich, meanwhile, made the move from French club Troyes for an undisclosed fee, and his physical presence will provide the Swans with a different option in the final third.

Duff is hopeful there will be further additions to come, but feels the new duo are a good fit, and revealed the role head of goalkeeping Martyn Margetson played in Rushworth’s move.

“It’s nice to have some fresh faces, young players that want to come here and develop and be a part of what we are trying to do,” said the Swans boss.

Carl Rushworth

“Carl has been on a good development curve. He has been at Walsall and then at Lincoln, I have spoken to Mark Kennedy and Matt Taylor, the managers who had him at those respective clubs, and they had very high praise for him.

“Also, we trust Marge (Margetson). It has been a signing where we have taken a lot from his input, because he is the England goalkeeping coach for very good reason.

“He believes Carl has a very good temperament and has got the opportunity and potential to be a really good goalkeeper.

“Myko has not played a minute of pre-season, he had a hamstring injury at the end of last year, but he did well during his loan spell in Scotland.

Mykola Kuharevich

“He has got things to develop in his game, but he has the platform here for us to help him in those areas, and we think he has a high ceiling.

“He has been part of the Ukraine national set-up, and you have to be a good player to be part of that.

“He brings a physicality, and a different profile to what we have got. We hope he brings goals, but he does bring that different profile."
