Michael Duff | We are disappointed, but I could not fault our effort
Head coach Michael Duff could not fault the attitude and application of his Swansea City side, despite the disappointment of conceding a last-gasp equaliser at Queens Park Rangers.
The Swans had looked on course for a first Championship victory of the season when Josh Ginnelly’s seventh-minute goal had them in front for the vast majority of the contest.
But they were denied all three points in agonising fashion as Lyndon Dykes steered a header into the corner of the net during six minutes of stoppage time as it ended 1-1 at Loftus Road.
The Swans would also see Ollie Cooper sent off before the night was out as he picked up two bookings in quick succession.
Duff was frustrated his side had not been able to secure the win, but he praised the effort and energy his players put into the game having demanded a reaction.
“It’s where we are at the minute,” said the Swans boss.
“I thought we started the game very well, we controlled it, passed it and hurt them in different ways and caused them different problems.
“We played through them, we played around them and we played over them, which was what we wanted it to look like.
“We scored a good goal, but any Gareth Ainsworth team will make it tough for you.
“They went man-to-man with us all over the pitch, we are a bit low on confidence at the minute, but in terms of attitude, application, energy and togetherness we were good.
“We are disappointed, of course. They had periods of pressure, but I do not recall Carl Rushworth having to make a save, and then a header goes in from 18 yards in stoppage time.
“As I say, it’s where we are at a bit at the minute.
"But the effort and application was there. We have had two or three false dawns after some of our performances this season, but that needs to be the non-negotiable part, from there we can start trying to improve with the ball.
“At the minute we are good for 60 minutes, we need to find a 100-minute performance.
“We are fifth in the league for xG against, that’s the foundation, and from there we can start working on being better with the ball.
“I understand we need to win games to get the time to do that, but I see players who are giving everything, and when the whistle blew six or seven of our players dropped to their knees because they had given everything. I cannot ask for more than that.”
