Michael Duff | Intensity key for south Wales derby
Head coach Michael Duff says intensity will be key for Swansea City as they take on Cardiff City in the latest instalment of the south Wales derby tonight (7.45pm).
The Swans head to Cardiff City Stadium for the first derby of the season looking for their first Championship victory.
They have won the last four derbies in a row, suffering just one defeat in the last nine, but recent history will go out the window once kick-off arrives.
And Swans boss Duff has told his players their intensity levels must improve tenfold from their defeat at Bristol City to give them the opportunity to make their club, city and community proud.
"We have to have intensity," he said.
"If you do not have that then it does not matter who you are, you will not be successful.
"After the Bristol City game we showed the players a clip where all 11 on the field were walking, and that cannot happen.
"They have taken it onboard, they have worked really hard over the last couple of weeks, and we have focused on how we can impact the game.
"We want to bring fight, spirit and energy to the game and try and impact it positively for us and our supporters.
"You know this is a big game from the outside looking in, and it's even bigger when you are on the inside.
"It's a bitter rivalry and games like this produce proper local derbies, I am looking forward to being a part of it and I want to see a reaction from the last game."
