Head coach Michael Duff wants Swansea City to round off the first block of Championship fixtures by putting together a performance against Bristol City underlining the progress they are making with and without the ball.

The Swans host the Robins in the final game before the international break looking to build on the encouraging signs from showings against Preston and Premier League Bournemouth.

Duff was pleased with the way his side used the ball against North End for the opening hour, while he saw plenty of positives in how his side defended against top-flight opposition in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Now he wants to see those elements come out together against a visiting Robins team he expects to post a “robust” test for the Swans.

“I was pleased with the performance in midweek and we want to now stitch together all the good bits we have shown in recent games into a more complete performance,” he said.

“Playing Bristol City is a bit of a derby for us, and they are a side who had a strong end to last season.

“They have lost a couple recently, but Nigel Pearson’s teams tend to be robust and resilient.

“They have good players, as do all teams in this league. People like Nahki Wells - I actually played against Nahki, so it shows how long he has been around for - who knows where the goal is.

“They have players that can hurt you, but ultimately we are looking to do what we have done in the last two games, but stitch those elements together into one.

“With the ball we want to be as good as we were for the first hour at Preston, and be as good without it as we were against Bournemouth the other night.

“That’s the challenge for us. We want to see things coming out in games, we have been the better team in recent games but we have not come out on the right side of the stat that matters.

“We can see progression, but we want to make sure those key moments start going in our favour.”
