Sam Allison signals a decision

Sam Allison will be the man in charge when Swansea City travel to Wigan Athletic on Easter Monday. (3pm kick-off).

It will be the first time the former firefighter has taken charge of a Swans league match, though he did once oversee a pre-season friendly against Forest Green Rovers in Nailsworth in 2021.

Allison made history as the highest-ranked Black official in the EFL when he was promoted to the National List of Referees in 2020 and, after taking charge of his first Championship match last month, has now set his sights on the top flight football in the near future.

The 42-year-old – who had a successful playing career in the upper echelons of non-league football -  has taken charge of 92 matches across the EFL leagues and competitions, as well as five FA Cup matches, since his promotion.

Monday’s match will be just his second second-tier fixture.  So far this season, he has overseen 30 matches handing out 100 yellow cards and four reds.

He will be assisted by Shaun Hudson and Andrew Fox. Dean Whitestone will be the fourth official.
