Meet the officials | Sheffield Wednesday
Matthew Donohue will be the referee when Swansea City take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
This will be the first time he has overseen a Swans match this term. Last season he took charge of four, including Luke Williams’ first Championship game as head coach – a 2-2 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.
The Manchester-based official climbed the ranks quickly, earning three successive promotions which saw him progress from National League North to the EFL’s List of Referees between 2016 and 2018.
The former primary school teacher first took charge of a Swans match in February 2021 – a 3-2 home defeat to Derby County.
So far this season he has taken charge of seven matches, handing out 35 yellow cards and two reds.
On Tuesday he will be assisted by Paul Hodskinson and Richard Woodward. Geoff Eltringham is the fourth official.
