Meet the officials | Sheffield United
Matthew Donohue will be the referee when Swansea City travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United this weekend (3pm kick-off).
The Manchester-based official earned three successive promotions which saw him climb from National League North to the National List of Referees between 2016 and 2018.
The former primary school teacher first took charge of a Swans match in February 2021 – a 3-2 home defeat to Derby County. Since then he’s taken charge of a further five games.
He most recently oversaw a Swans game on the opening day of the current season as they played out a 1-1 draw against Rotherham United.
On the day, three yellow cards were handed out with Joel Piroe and Matty Sorinola booked for the Swans.
In total this season, Donohue has handed out 77 yellow cards and one red. The player sent off was the Blades’ centre back John Egan for two bookable offences in a Boxing Day meeting with Coventry City at Bramall Lane.
This weekend, Donohue will be assisted by Paul Hodskinson and Richard Wild. Martin Woods will be the fourth official.
