Meet the officials | Cardiff City
Sam Barrott will be the man in the middle when Swansea City travel to the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday (7.45pm kick-off).
It will be the second time the Yorkshire-based official has taken charge of a Swans match this season, having also blown the whistle when Michael Duff’s side made the trip to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion in August.
Barrott handed out seven yellow cards on that occasion, with four going to Swans players. Ben Cabango, Harry Darling, Nathan Wood and Ollie Cooper were all booked.
Saturday will not only mark Barrott’s second Swans match of the 2023-24 season, but it will be the second time he’s been in charge of a televised game, as he was the referee for Ipswich Town’s trip to Sunderland on the opening weekend.
It was a game the away side won after the Black Cats were reduced to 10 men in the 72nd minute following Trai Hume’s second booking.
Barrott was promoted to Select Group 2 this summer after taking charge of a handful of Championship matches last term. This will be the second Swans league match he has overseen, but he was also in charge of a Carabao Cup first-round match against Reading in 2021. The Swans won 3-0 on that occasion.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Craig Taylor and Sam Lewis. Robert Madley will be the fourth official.
