Meet the officials | Birmingham City
Jeremy Simpson will be the man in charge when Swansea City host Birmingham City on Saturday. (3pm kick-off).
It has been just under a year since the Lancashire-based official last took charge of a Swans match. He blew the whistle when Swansea City suffered a 3-0 defeat away at Stoke City in February 2022.
Despite being included on the National List of Referees in 2012 and taking charge of his first Championship match in February 2013, this will be just the sixth time he has overseen a Swansea game and just his second trip to SA1.
His only other visit to Swansea came in December 2019, when he was in charge for the Swans' 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
Simpson initially gained promotion to PGMOL as an assistant referee during the 2005-06 season. He progressed quickly and by 2007 was promoted to Select Group 1 (working in the Premier League) and the FIFA international list.
Between 2007 and 2010, Simpson worked in high profile international club matches including Champions League fixtures, UEFA Cup matches as well as fulfilling international appointments.
In 2010, Simpson switched his focus from the flag to the whistle and took charge of his first EFL match in 2012. He has been included in the Select Group 2 officials list since its inception in 2016.
So far this season, Simpson has taken charge of 17 matches handing out 78 yellow cards. He is yet to show a red card.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Andrew Dallison and Andrew Aylott. Peter Wright will be the fourth official.
