McBurnie returns to Swans
Swansea City can confirm that striker Oliver McBurnie will be returning to the club with immediate effect after the Football League rejected his loan transfer to Barnsley today.
Both clubs announced the transfer on deadline day in the full belief that the deal had been completed on time.
However, the administration process of the transfer was deemed by the EFL to have not been met in order for the signing to be confirmed and was today duly rejected after an appeal by Barnsley.
Oli will return to the Liberty Stadium and be available for all forthcoming first team and under-23 fixtures, with the possibility of another loan move for the Scotland Under-21 international reviewed again in January.
A Swansea City spokesperson said: “We are naturally disappointed for Oli having gone through the process, but we are pleased to have a player of his quality available again for both the first team and in a competitive under-23 structure.’’
