McBurnie named PL2 Player of the Season
Swansea City striker Oli McBurnie has been named this season’s Premier League 2 Player of the Season after starring in the Under-23s’ double-winning campaign.
The 20-year-old scored an impressive 23 goals in all competitions as the young Swans went on to win the PL2 Division 2 title and lifted the Premier League Cup in May following a 2-0 win over Reading.
He also scooped January’s Player of the Month award and scored two debut goals for Swansea City’s first team against Peterborough in the EFL Cup in August.
McBurnie, who joined the Swans from Bradford in July 2015, claimed the accolade ahead of ten other nominees including Liam Walsh from Division 1 champions Everton, Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn and Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe.
He becomes the first Swansea City player to win the Player of the Season award for the U23s.
