Matt Grimes | We can take confidence into this game
Captain Matt Grimes is confident Swansea City are making strides and heading in the right direction as they prepare to face Ipswich Town this weekend.
The Swans head to Portman Road having lost just two of their last nine Championship fixtures, taking 17 points from a possible 27.
They will face a Tractor Boys side who are sitting second in the table, having enjoyed a fine start to their first season at this level since the 2018-19 campaign.
But midfielder Grimes believes the Swans can travel with confidence have shown real character and togetherness to respond after a tough start to the season.
“If you look at the results starting with the draw at QPR, we have only lost two games and one of those was against Leicester.
“We were disappointed with how we performed against Watford where we lacked a bit of energy, but other than that I think performances have been heading in the right direction.
“We bounced back after that against Blackburn and we’ve now got a big game before the international break and we need to keep rolling with it and keep trying to improve every week.
“We know we still have a long way to go and there is a lot of work to do, but hopefully everyone can see how we are starting to click and players are really standing up for each other.
“You’ve got Harry and Bashir, who have been outstanding at centre-half, Jamal has been a revelation since he came in, Liam Cullen and Pato have been unbelievable with the energy they bring.
“As midfielders, our task is to make sure we link those two elements, attacking well and defending well. We’re building week by week and I feel it’s a positive time.”
