Matt Grimes “immensely proud” to reach 250 Swansea City appearances
Captain Matt Grimes has spoken of his pride at bringing up 250 appearances for Swansea City.
The landmark was reached in a 1-1 draw with Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday with the Swans captain showing the composure and class in the middle of the park that has been the hallmark of his performances over the years.
And, while he was clearly proud to reach the milestone marker for the club that now feels like home for the Exeter-born midfielder, he admitted it wasn’t something he’d been thinking about in the lead up to the game.
“It’s an unbelievably proud moment,” said Grimes.
“I love this club, but I actually didn’t even realise [I’d reached 250] until before the game when the gaffer mentioned it.
“But I’m immensely proud and it’s a very happy day.
“There’s a fair few amazing moments I've been fortunate to experience – Cardiff away this season being one – but I’d need a bit longer to go through them all!
“I absolutely love this club and the city. It’s home for me and my family.
“I’ll just keep going now and keep ticking the games off and continue to do my very best for this club."
