Matt Grimes wants Swansea City to get back to winning ways under the Liberty lights against Brentford on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

The midfielder helped the Swans maintain their unbeaten away form in the Championship this season in the weekend’s draw at Barnsley.

The result moved Steve Cooper’s team up to third in the table with a quarter of the season in the books.

They now return to SA1 for home games against the Bees and Cardiff.

Swansea have gone three homes games without a win, after Nottingham Forest became the first Championship side to win at the Liberty in 2019 before Reading and Stoke also took points off their hosts.

And, while aware of the threat Brentford will pose, Grimes knows that sequence needs to end sooner rather than later.

“We keep picking up points away but now it’s important that we do the same at home,” he said.

“We know our form at the Liberty hasn’t been good enough recently; the players know that better than anyone.

“We need to write off the previous games and get back to what we’ve been doing so well at home over the past year. I believe we can do that.

“We’ve had a couple of disappointing games but the lads are confident we can turn it around.

“We’re not having a bad run but we’re not playing as well as we can. But, at the same time, we’re still third in the table and picking up points, which is a big positive.

“When we really hit the levels we know we can, I think teams will be in trouble. Once we fully click and dominate the entire game in the way we have done in large parts of others, I think we’ll be a force to be reckoned with.

“Obviously, they’re a very good team with players who are capable of winning any game.

“They play nice attractive football so it should be a really good game. We must do what we know we can and, hopefully, give the fans something to cheer about.

“The atmosphere for evening games at the Liberty are fantastic. It’ll be nice to get out there under the lights again and, hopefully, we can achieve a positive result.”
