Matt Grimes | Consistency is key over second half of season

Matt Grimes hopes Swansea City can maintain their consistency going into the second half of the season following back-to-back wins to sign off 2024.

The Swans trailed early on against Luton Town on Sunday following a Carlton Morris goal, but Gonçalo Franco had the home side level before the break.

The hosts piled on the pressure after Joe Johnson was dismissed midway through the second half, and they got their reward when substitute Myles Peart-Harris arrived to convert from Harry Darling’s header in the first minute of stoppage time.

The win backed up the emphatic 3-0 Boxing Day win over Queens Park Rangers, with the two performances seeing the Swans control those games for long spells with and without the ball.

And Grimes says that focus on being accurate and patient is key moving forward into 2025.

"We stayed really calm, especially going 1-0 down so early. It was a tough game, but another top performance," said Grimes.

"Boxing Day was probably one of our best performances of the season. To back that up and show that is not just a one-off is what we want to do, and we want to keep consistently building.

"It's going to take time to implement any manager's style of play and philosophy, and in the year that we've had with him, we've just been building, slowly progressing and adding layers and more detail week-in, week-out.

"I feel like we're in a really good place at the moment, there's still more to come for sure. We've got such a young group.

"Now, we've got to remain consistent and keep going."
