Matt Gill | This run of games is an opportunity for us
Matt Gill believes Swansea City’s run of fixtures between now and the March international break will prove a key period.
The Swans host Blackpool at the Swansea.com Stadium on Wednesday night in the first of eight games between now and the home meeting with Bristol City on March 19 that precedes the brief halt for European qualifiers.
Following the clash with the Seasiders, games against Blackburn, Stoke, Rotherham, Luton, Middlesbrough, Millwall and the Robins follow in short order.
With five of those fixtures being on home turf, assistant head coach Gill knows producing a strong run now could set-up an exciting final run-in.
“We definitely want to bounce back, and this is a big opportunity to be back in front of our home fans and perform,” he said.
“I think performances on the whole have been good, we have had good spells in games, but the results have been disappointing.
“So, we need to make sure we turn positive performances into results, and this run of games is an opportunity to do that.
“There is an eight-game period between now and the international break, and it is an opportunity to get closer to the play-off places, and to turn performances into results.
“We are looking forward to this period, in our good previous good run we won three from four and it gets you back in the mix.
“We need to get back to those performance levels we showed against Watford, Burnley and at Sunderland.
“If we perform at those levels, and avoid those moments in games where we have conceded when being on top or the opposition have not had to do much to score, and we will give ourselves a chance.
“We need to clean that up and then hopefully the dominance we have in games can pay off.”
