Matchday Guide | Swansea City v Sunderland

13th December
Fans
Fan Zone Swansea City v Sunderland

Swansea City host Sunderland at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday (December 14) in our final home match before Christmas.

Luke Williams’ men kick off at 3pm, while the Festive Fan Zone - located outside the South Stand - opens at 12.30pm.

Traffic is expected to be high in the area around the stadium due to an increase in Christmas traffic visiting the nearby retail park, and supporters are advised to allow additional time when travelling to support the Swans.

Supporters are also encouraged to arrive early with the fan zone opening two-and-a-half hours before kick-off.

There are more reasons to arrive early too, as the first 100 Junior Jacks to visit Santa Cyril and Santa Cybil in the Christmas grotto will receive a small gift.

The Jack Army will also have the opportunity to win one of five signed shirts, thanks to Joma. The penalty shootout challenge will be hosted by Swansea City AFC Foundation.

Further activities in the junior fan zone will include a bouncy castle, table football, ping pong challenge, face painting, Santa letter writing, colouring competitions with Cwtsh Clos and a hole-in-one challenge in association with Swansea Foot Golf.

Our Christmas-themed children’s disco will be hosted by resident South Stand DJ Jo Jo from Heaven Sent Parties.

First-team players are visiting the fan zone from 2pm and they will be located near the grotto.

In our Jack Army Bar area, live music from Swansea band Subterrania will begin at 1pm.

For further details, including a timetable, click the button below.

Ahead of kick-off Swansea City will also be paying tribute to the club's beloved former player Vic Gomersall, who passed away earlier this week.

There will be a minute of applause before kick-off, while the Swans team will wear black armbands.

DIGITAL TICKETS

Like season tickets, matchday tickets can be accessed via the Swans Official app.

To use the in-app ticketing service, supporters should check their app is up to date and that they are running the latest version to ensure the correct tickets are pulling through. This may involve visiting your relevant app store.

Ticket holders will need to use their Swansea Club Account to access their ticket and ensure it is linked to the correct season ticket account. For more information on this and a walkthrough of the steps needed, please visit our FAQs.

Eligible supporters can access the ‘Jacks’ tab of the Swans app and click ‘view your matchday ticket’. This may prompt users to log in with their Swans Club Account, before displaying their ticket(s).

Swansea City would like to remind supporters who wish to use this service that it is the responsibility of ticket holders to check that their in-app ticket is visible before they travel to the Swansea.com Stadium. MATCHDAY

MEL NURSE BAR

To honour one of the most important figures in the club’s history, the club – with support from the Former Players’ Association and Supporters’ Trust - has re-furbished and re-named the 'Riverside Lounge' as the 'Mel Nurse Bar' in the Swansea.com Stadium’s East Stand.

The 'Mel Nurse Bar' will formally open its doors at 1pm. It is open to all home supporters, but you will need to show a match ticket or season ticket in order to gain access.

The bar will also remain open post-match, we hope to see you there!

TRAVELLING TO SA1

We are expecting higher levels of traffic than usual near the stadium due to more cars being on the road in the lead up to Christmas.

The club would recommend supporters allow additional time when travelling to the ground this weekend and arrive early.

Supporters who arrive early can join us in the fan zone from 12.30pm.

More information about the fan zone is in the opening of this article and is also available HERE.

CLUB SHOP

The club shop will be open from 9.30am until 6pm.

The club shop is also playing host to the Swansea Bay Health Charity Cwtsh Clos Memory Christmas tree. You can find our more here.

Supporters who have added their loved ones names to the tree can visit this during shop opening hours.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

There will be a food van located outside the South Stand (near the entrance to the fan zone) which will be serving all the usual favourites as well as some festive specials.

Food ordered from this van can be taken into the ground.

INCLUSION ROOM

Swansea City has a multi-use quiet space with prayer facilities located in the stadium's West Stand.

This room can be accessed via a door at the north end of the West Stand concourse (located at the foot of the Access D stairwell) or via main reception and the room itself is named 'The Cwtch'.

The Inclusion Room will have the match playing on the television, so that people who choose to leave the stands and access the space can continue to watch the game.

Supporters can also use this space to pray and reflect. For those who require them, prayer mats - which are available to borrow - are stored in the room.

For more information about accessible facilities in the stadium, click here.

ACCESSIBILITY

Swansea City aims to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone and we understand that not everyone enjoys a game in the same way.

We have a number of in-stadium facilities to help supporters enjoy their matchday and further information about these can be found HERE.

The club has joined with AccessAble to create visual guides. These can be viewed HERE.

This season, the club has worked with supporters and relevant charities to make the following improvements: stoma accessible toilets, and acceptant of the YMCS Swansea young carers card.

The Disabled Supporters' Association have also donated new ear defenders which can be borrowed by supporters on a matchday.
