Maric targets Everton performance
Adnan Maric believes Swansea City Under-23s must aim to improve and target their first win of the season against Everton at Finch Farm on Saturday (12pm).
The midfielder scored the Swans' opening goal of the Premier League 2 campaign as they drew 1-1 against 10-man Derby on Monday.
Maric was a key part of the under-23s' division one campaign last season, when he scored five goals in 31 appearances.
And the Swede is keen to improve that tally this campaign.
“I was very happy to get off the mark on Monday,” the 21-year-old said.
“We felt unfortunate not to get three points this week. It has been a tough start for us so we need to target a win to boost ourselves with confidence and get our league campaign started.
“We got a point on Monday but we should have been much better and taken all three. One point is still better than nothing.
"There are positives to take but also a lot of things we need to work on. We need to sharpen up those areas, put it right and get a result away at Everton this weekend.”
Maric was one of the youngsters watched by Graham Potter and Billy Reid at Landore on Monday.
He made his senior debut under former boss Carlos Carvalhal in the FA Cup victory over Notts County last season.
And Maric admits he would love to have a repeat experience in the Championship this season.
“Having Graham Potter watch our games is encouraging for us players,” he said. “It gives us hope that he has you in mind and it is a chance to impress.
“You always look to give everything because players like Oli (McBurnie), Joe (Rodon), Connor (Roberts) and Daniel (James) have shown that younger players will get opportunities this season.”
Swansea City Under-23s face Everton in Premier League 2 at Finch Farm this Saturday (12pm). Due to a clash with our first team fixture against Bristol City, no live stream will be available.
