Luke Williams | We want to win and treat the competition with the respect it deserves
Luke Williams insists Swansea City will treat the Emirates FA Cup with the respect that such an historic competition deserves when they face Southampton on Sunday.
The Swans travel to face the Saints in the third round on the back of a hectic schedule of four games in 10 days over Christmas and New Year.
The Swans boss has no new injury concerns going into the tie, and is not expecting to have any of his injured contingent back for the trip to the south coast.
But, when asked if he would consider making wholesale changes, Willams was clear that his selection will be with the goal of making the fourth round right at the forefront of his thinking.
“We are looking good, there are no new injury problems, we have a fit squad and we are looking forward to it," he said.
“We have had time to recover from what was an incredible schedule, but we had some fascinating data from our last game which showed physically we had our highest output of the season. That shows what an incredible group of players we have, who dug very deep to get us a result in the last moment.
“So, we will be showing respect to the competition, that’s for sure. It is a change of pace and a chance for glory.
“That’s what the cup is about, and I hope we can make something exciting for our fans. It’s a chance to spice things up and give different experiences, and we have that chance.”
