Luke Williams | We want our performances to be sharper
Luke Williams wants his Swansea City side to build and sharpen up their performances as they prepare to face Plymouth Argyle this afternoon.
The Swans host the Pilgrims at the Swansea.com Stadium on the club’s dedicated Maggie’s matchday, which will raise awareness and vital funds for our official charity partner.
The head coach has seen his side show signs of progress in periods of games against promotion hopefuls Southampton and Leicester City, while acknowledging they have paid for key errors in those games.
They face a Plymouth side who have lost just one of their last eight Championship games but, with the transfer window closed, and knowing the tools at his disposal over the remainder of the campaign, the Swans boss is keen for his team to start to kick on.
“I am looking forward to working with new players and integrating them into the squad and building the performances. We want a sharper look to the performances on the pitch,” he said.
“It will be a tough game, there are no easy games in the Championship. We are trying to win a game of football, but we want to improve performance and learn what we can and can’t do.
“I see positive signs in games, results have not been what we want but the performances have been encouraging in parts, so we are optimistic.
“Every game is important, of course we would welcome a win and there have been signs of progress towards what we want.
“We have been playing top sides, and one of the things we know is we have to make sure we are able to have good periods in games for longer.”
